I cannot believe that Newdegate House is only a 4* Silver, it should have a gold award at the very least.
The welcome is second to none. Newdegate House is beautifully clean, warm and has everything you could possibly want - and more. It is more like visiting friends than staying in a bed and breakfast

 

Jackie and John offer a first class welcome to Newdegate B&B, the accommodation was warm clean and comfortable. We had called last minute at Newdegate and were shown to our rooms a double and a twin immediately, the house was warm and comfortable despite the temperature outside being sub zero so this was a great big plus! The welcome was as warm as the house and we felt immediately at home.Jackie & John can be assured that they have no competition in the immediate area, we will happily return in the future.

Although this is a peaceful and relaxing part of the English countryside there is always a lot to see and do for everyone.  On our doorstep every year we have The Thaxted Festival - Programme and booking arrangements will be available in early Spring www.thaxtedfestival.org.uk

Great Dunmow Carnival 
This years carnival takes place on Saturday 18th September and the theme is FILMS.
A great family day with free entrance to funfair and open air evening concert.
Procession starts at 1:30pm
