• Thaxted, Home of Morris Dancing. 14th century Guild Hall and Church. Gustav Holst lived in town st.
• Finchingfield, picturesque village with duck pond in the centre, and a good selection of pubs and restaurants.
• Saffron Walden, medieval Market town with many interesting buildings and a unique turf maize. Market days Tuesday and Saturday
• Audley End House and Gardens are close by.
• Hempstead, with the Bluebell Inn, former home of the highwayman Dick Turpin.
• Broxted, Beirut hostages windows in church.
• Cambridge, University City, River Cam, city tours on open top busses, Theatres and cinemas, good selection of shops.
• Duxford, Imperial War Museum
• Clare with its Castle and Country Park
• Long Melford, famous for its Antique shops and Kentwell Hall
• Lavenham, another extremely picturesque Village, over 300 buildings listed as being of architectural, and historical interest.
